For as long as I can remember I’ve always been involved in some type of art...from
drawing, poetry writing, painting t-shirts, wreath making, rug weaving, foam crafting,
photography, party planning, and of course, scrapbooking.

It was 1998 and I overheard some ladies talking about scrapbooking.  I had not heard
that term since elementary school.  We had books that resembled large photo albums
with plain beige craft paper inside and held together by a black string.  Depending on the
subject, we cut photos, advertisements, and anything else we could find out of Life and
Look magazines, put some Elmer’s glue on the back, slapped it down on a page, added
some hand drawn flowers in crayon and wrote a title or other sentiments on it.  There
was no such thing as acid free, adding a frame or embellishments or any of the new
fancy things done in today’s scrapbooking.  But it was looked upon as a great work of
art.  Through the eyes of a child, of course.

So when I started looking into scrapbooking again I wanted to improve on my childhood
scrapping.  Little did I know how advanced scrapbooking had become.  Clicking through
the TV stations one day there was a scrapbook show on.  It was DIY Scrapbooking with
Sandi Genovese and I could not believe my eyes!  In my excitement, I went out in
search of this newfound scrapbooking and purchased a Memory Makers magazine.  This
is what I want to do, were my thoughts, as I turned page after page discovering and
taking in all that I saw.  I went to stores where I found stickers and some scrapbook
paper, all the time wishing there was a scrapbook store in the New Orleans area.

So, on a whim, I pulled out the yellow pages and discovered that there was indeed a
scrapbook store!  Oh how excited I was driving up to The Scrapbook Nook!  The store
manager, Tiffany, laughed as I went around the store, loudly exclaiming my excitement.
I just had to have it all and more!  And what better way for an avid scrapper to
celebrate a 50th birthday!  I had a Scrapbook Party with 6 of my closest friends there.
Shortly after the bad news came…the store was closing!  “Oh this can’t be happening,
what am I going to do?”.   So, I did what any other scrapper would do…I dried up the
tears and scrapped with what I could find.

Then one day the mail came.  “What’s this?”  An announcement from a new scrapbook
store! Unable to contain myself and with some trepidation, drove to Metairie and down
Severn and there it was...in all it’s glory…Scrappersaurus!  I went in and met the
greatest people and friends I could ever hope to meet, Dee, Felix and Emery!  They gave
me my scrapbook life back!  And like all things in life we have had some great times,
hopelessly sad times and major changes…all the things we scrapbook about.  So here I
am, a member of this most fantastic Design Team!  Everyday I pray and thank God for
Dee, Felix, Emery and Scrappersaurus.  My wish is that my designs bring imagination,
life and creativity to every fellow Scrapper.
